ERC-3009 Support

Context

Add additional functions to $HONEY (and potentially $WBERA) tokens so that would allow it to support ERC-3009 Transfer With Authorization ERC-3009: Transfer With Authorization .

Motivation / Reasoning

Technical Effort

  • Low-Effort - $HONEY - Natively support contract upgrades and would require upgrading the implementation to suppor the additional functions
  • Bigger-Effort - $WBERA (And wrapped tokens in general) - Does not support contract upgrades for security reasons and would require that the chain perform a hard fork to support this additional functionality

honey is money as a wise bear once said

this proposal further accelerates honey adoption as it’ll improve the UX by a lot through both being able to pay gas with HONEY and also use HONEY as a currency to leverage x402 that has been the talk of the town recently

Looks to be ok for $HONEY - not sure exactly why $ETH would be important in the equation there for the current stage

For HONEY - with and after published audit

strong against on WBERA - weth standard contract change can brick lot of integrations that have gas assumptions built in (including Kodiak dex), and should not add fancy features

Meant to say WETH instead of ETH, as wrapped tokens in general, but I updated it. Thanks for the catch.

Yeah, I think there might be a possibility that there is a different token that gets launched that wraps BERA and/or WBERA to allow for x402 potentially in the future. That way it doesn’t disturb existing functionality.

Owh ok didn’t noticed myself  was just wondering if it’s very important to include either wETH or wBTC for a first move in the ERC-3009 support

Could be a longer process vs a fast win - and if there is a momentum adding them for more DeFi usecases, right?

Fast wins IMO are:

  • native gas sponsorship with $HONEY
  • x402 support

re:$HONEY, lots of reasons for (I especially want x402) and don’t see any downsides since it’s just an additional option to Permit2 and EIP-2612.

re:$WBERA, needs more thought so should limit this to just $HONEY
